This church had issues with inconsistant coverage and unintelligible spoken word at some locations. This was facilitated by a very low ceiling versus audince seating distance from the stage. The speaker system design abjective was to provide as even a coverage at all seats as well as control feedback as a result of the low ceiling. In order to understand the coverage pattern from potiential seakers an EASE model was developed of the space. Different prospective speaker model specifications were entered into the software and coverage analysis models were rendered.
Using the EASE data we were able to model the room using different speaker cabinets to discover which one would best cover the seating area providing the least amount of early reflections or other anomalies. We discovered from the data presented that the best option for this room was point source central speaker. A Renkus-Heinz CX82 small format speaker with a wide angle coverage was chosen to give a reasonably even coverage across the area.
